The distribution of Walesi kits is one of the major drives to digital transformation and transmitter towers are placed strategically around the country.

An international enterprise in antenna and communications technology, which partnered with Fiji to help its move from analogue to digital (Walesi) has praised Fiji’s digital transformation.

KATHREIN Broadcast GmbH is a broadcast media specialist headquartered in Germany.

The company’s Asia Pacific (APAC) Sales expert Prasanna Meemaduma said Kathrein and SIRA Radio Systems were happy to be part of this success story in Fiji.

“Even Australia could not go for DVB-T2.”

Why is DVB-T2 important? He asked.

“It opens up many opportunities such as UHD and also much efficient use of spectrum.”

“This frees up the spectrum for much needed mobile communication.”

“This tiny little Island was able to achieve all this without any funding from any other country.”

Mr Meemaduma also acknowledged the Attorney-General and Minister for Communications Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

“In his speech he talks about the technical benefits.”

“This is really great.”

“We also see that Technical Team at Walesi and FBC have taken steps to improve the coverage by going in for Circular polarisation in built up places such as Suva and Nadi.”

“Congratulations Fiji and Walesi team.”

“I do not wish to mention names, but the whole team who were behind this from CEO of Walesi to Technical teams including Director Technology of FBC and their work to get this up and running on time should be appreciated.”
