‘Lynda Tabuya’s EFL Criticism’ Not Party Views: Rabuka
People’s Alliance (PA) party Leader Sitiveni Rabuka

Sitiveni Rabuka has distanced his People’s Alliance (PA) party from outbursts made by his deputy Lynda Tabuya, regarding pay increase for Energy Fiji Limited staff.

In an interview with the Fiji Sun yesterday, Mr Rabuka, The (PA) party leader, supported general secretary Sakiasi Ditoka’s comments  that the party does not support Ms Tabuya’s views.

“No we do not: We understand the problems that EFL is having,” Mr Rabuka said.

“We are concerned about the cuts, but we understand that there will always be cuts because of the increase in consumer numbers is more than the normal number of population increase.

“So the 10-year development plan will not be able to cope with the extraordinary increases in EFL consumers in the urban
areas because of the rural urban population drift.”

He said Ms Tabuya was posting as a concerned ratepayer and EFL customer and not as the deputy party leader.

“Even deputy party leaders when they say something it should be cleared by the party so that we are aware and ready to defend what officials of the party go out and say,” Mr Rabuka said.

Although the party does not endorse her views, he said they understood the issues she raised.

“As a customer of EFL, I suffer when there are disruptions and I know that other people also suffer as well as head officials of EFL and customers and those who work in EFL so we have to be mindful of the difficulties.”

The party was expected to issue a statement concerning Ms Tabuya yesterday, however they did not.
