It was all business for Saracens loose head prop Eroni Mawi when he jetted into the country yesterday.

This was Mawi’s first trip home after three years but he had to put all his homecoming celebration feasting on hold as he headed to Suva to join the Vodafone Flying Fijians squad.

The former Fijian Under-20 captain played for Saracens in England’s Gallagher Premiership grand final, where they lost 15-12 to Leicester Tigers.

The Flying Fijians is preparing for this Saturday’s Pacific Nations Cup (PNC) opener against Tonga at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

“Good to be back home after three years,” Mawi told Sun sports at Nadi International Airport.

“The season was good, to be honest even though we fell short in the final against Leceister.

“It was good to experience that level of rugby.”

“So, it was a good season for me.”

The Totoya, Lau, native said he is looking forward to catch up with his Flying Fijians team-mates who are already in camp.

Pacific Challenge

“The PNC is another challenge.”

It is something that I’m looking forward and it’s going to be exciting especially looking into the future of Fiji Rugby.”

Also, accompanying Mawi was his Saracens team-mate Theodore McFarland who is going to represent Samoa in the PNC.

Mawi previously played for the Fijian Drua in the Australia National Rugby Championship (NRC).

He also played for Naitasiri and Suva in the major provincial union competition.

Mawi made his debut for the Flying Fijians at the 2018 PNC clash against Samoa.

He also represented Fiji at the 2018 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
