Fiji officially launched its Trade Information Portal yesterday, providing a one-stop online platform for all trade-related procedures and requirements.
Permanent secretary for Trade, Cooperatives, MSMEs and Communications Shaheen Ali unveiled the portal at Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva, describing it as “a powerful tool” that will transform the experience of traders and business owners.
The portal offers accurate and up-to-date information on permits, licences, fees, and regulations required for trading in and out of Fiji, all accessible through mobile devices or laptops.
“Trade procedures in Fiji have not always been simple,” Mr Ali acknowledged during the launch. “Our micro, small businesses have been frustrated. They have had to go from one office to another, fill out multiple forms perhaps multiple times.”
The initiative began in September 2024 when 16 government agencies and private sector stakeholders collaborated with World Bank guidance to develop the platform.
Australian High Commissioner Peter Roberts congratulated the Ministry of Trade, noting that Australia imported $9 million worth of goods from Pacific Island countries in 2024, with two-way trade between Australia and Fiji exceeding $6.4 billion.

This portal will greatly help both exporters in Fiji and those looking to invest into Fiji.

The portal will serve as preparation for the next phase - converting it into a national single window system where trade transactions can occur in one location.
Mr Ali stressed the platform was built specifically for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), stating it “is not just for big players” but for “any Fijians with a product that has an idea and a drive to do business or trade.”
