Student designers from secondary schools across Fiji will have expanded opportunities to showcase their talent after Fiji Fashion Week (FJFW) secured a three-year sponsorship from FIJI Water.

The agreement sees FIJI Water become the official presenting partner of the newly rebranded Fiji Fashion Week Student Designer Show Presented by FIJI Water, effective immediately.

The annual Student Designer Show is a key platform for emerging creative talent, giving students professional exposure, mentorship and the chance to present their collections on one of the region’s leading fashion stages.

Past participants have gone on to establish respected brands and showcase at major events. Alumni include Kess Baleirara, Cherish Prasad, Laisiasa Davetawalu and Atelaite Daunibau.

FJFW general manager Joan Kamikamica-Smith said the partnership would strengthen arts development at secondary school level.

“We are super excited to have FIJI Water onboard as sponsors of the Student Designers Show, as our branding objectives align exceptionally well. Both Fiji Fashion Week and FIJI Water celebrate world-class standards while proudly representing Fiji on a global stage.

“This partnership will allow us to further strengthen and uplift the arts at high school level, providing young creatives with meaningful opportunities to develop their talent, confidence and innovation. By investing in our youth today, we are investing in the future of Fiji’s creative industries.”

FIJI Water director external affairs Geoff Smith said the company was proud to support emerging designers.

“As a proud sponsor, we’re delighted to support Fiji Fashion Week and emerging student designers through this platform that celebrates talent and creativity. The passion and originality of these young designers embody the vibrant future of Fiji’s fashion industry, and we are honoured to play a role in elevating their journey and celebrating their achievements,” he said.

The Fiji Fashion Week Student Designer Show Presented by FIJI Water will be held on Saturday, May 30, at Vodafone Arena in Suva.

Organisers say the event will continue to highlight the imagination and craftsmanship of Fiji’s next generation of designers.

FIJI Water, through the FIJI Water Foundation, has invested in community development initiatives across Fiji, focusing on education, health and wellness, infrastructure and environmental sustainability.
