Questions people ask
Who sets fuel prices in Fiji?
The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) sets a maximum regulated price for motor spirit, diesel, kerosene and LPG. Retailers may sell below it but not above it.
When do Fiji fuel prices change?
Monthly. New prices take effect on the first day of each month and are gazetted a few days before.
Why is fuel more expensive on the outer islands?
Each zone carries a freight loading set by FCCC to reflect the cost of shipping fuel beyond Viti Levu.
What is the difference between packaged and drum prices?
The packaged (retail) price is the normal pump or cylinder price. Drum-sale prices apply to fuel sold in industrial drums for distribution, and are set slightly higher.
Is LPG price-controlled in Fiji?
Yes — 4.5kg, 12kg, 40kg, 50kg cylinders, bulk and autogas all sit under the FCCC LPG authorisation. Cylinder gas is VAT-exempt.
