Navolau lad makes waves at all-boys school

Michael Tugaga, 14, is making waves at Marist Brothers High School.
Yesterday at the school’s Lambert Hall the all-boys education institution celebrated the academic excellence of their students through an academic excellence induction ceremony.
Michael, a Flagstaff rookie was one of the 93 students recognised for their outstanding commitment, discipline, and achievements in the classroom across all streams.

The quiet achiever from Navolau, Viria in Naitasiri, with strong maternal roots in Qoma, Namena in Tailevu, scored an outstanding 580 out of 600 in his mid-year examination recently.
The Year 9 student dreams to be a pilot.
“I always look up at the sky and imagine myself flying,” Michael shared with a smile.
“This award is just the beginning. I know I have a long way to go, but I’m ready for the challenge.”
Michael also topped Year 9 in Business Administration and Agriculture (subjects).
“I make an effort to balance my academic focus with strong discipline and determination,” Michael said.
He credits his teachers and family for their support, saying, “My parents have always told me: if you work hard, your dreams will take flight. I believe them and am working on achieving that.”
What drives Michael most is the dream of making his family proud and giving back to his community.
“I want to show my peers and relatives in Navolau and Qoma that they can achieve big things too,” he said.
With his sights set on the skies and his feet grounded in strong values, Michael is not just dreaming—he’s preparing to fly high.
Chief guest Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro while commending the students for a job well done also reaffirmed that his ministry’s was commitment in ensuring that no student was left behind.
