People's Alliance will keep sharing Govt achievements online: PM Rabuka

Prime Minister and People's Alliance leader Sitiveni Rabuka says his party will continue posting Government achievements on its Facebook page, while acknowledging that credit should be shared among coalition partners.

Mr Rabuka made the comments after the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) raised concerns that the People's Alliance was portraying coalition-funded projects as its own.

He said the People's Alliance could not claim Government achievements exclusively because Fiji was governed by a three-party coalition.

"Not as a party, we cannot claim the achievement of government as a party, when it's a coalition one, we acknowledge the contribution of the other two parties," Mr Rabuka said.

However, he confirmed the Facebook posts would continue.

"No, we will continue to do that, we have been part of that group that brought about those developments," he said.

People's Alliance general secretary Sila Balawa earlier defended the posts, saying they were largely shared from official Government pages to keep supporters informed.

"We have a duty to show our supporters what we have been or are doing in Government," Mr Balawa said.

SODELPA general secretary Simione Rasova maintained his party was seeking legal clarification rather than attacking the coalition.

"We seek clarifications from those people, whether that is lawful or it's unlawful," he said.

Mr Rasova said SODELPA would approach the Fijian Elections Office and the Registrar of Political Parties for guidance.

Mr Rabuka also confirmed the People's Alliance was quietly preparing its candidate list for next year's general election.

"We are also. Unseen," he said when asked about the party's election preparations.
