Miss Bula contestant champions youth through aviation and tourism

For 24-year-old Neli Yalewavulagi, the Bula Festival is an opportunity to inspire more young Fijians to build careers in aviation and tourism while celebrating the country's culture and heritage.

Representing the vanua o Nawaka, Nadi, at the Bula Festival at King Charles Park, Ms Yalewavulagi is using the pageant to advocate for greater opportunities for young people in two of Fiji's key industries.

Sponsored by Epic Transfers and Tours, she is a business administration graduate and works with Fiji Airports.

Ms Yalewavulagi said her advocacy, "Youth Empowerment through Aviation and Tourism," reflected her passion for encouraging young people to explore opportunities in the sectors and become future leaders.

"We did not inherit these islands to use them up. We borrowed them, and borrowed things are meant to be returned whole," she said.

During the Bula Festival Tourism Night, Ms Yalewavulagi showcased her talent through traditional Fijian handicraft making.

The audience watched as she demonstrated the making of handcrafted Fijian fans, ladies' bags and purses, highlighting the creativity, culture and craftsmanship that make Fiji unique.

"Celebrating our heritage, empowering local talent, and sharing the spirit of Fiji, one handcrafted piece at a time," she said.

Epic Transfers & Tours Fiji general manager Gabby Rokotuitai said the company was honoured to support Ms Yalewavulagi's journey.
