Naevo joins Blues 30th year celebration

Naevo played for the Blues in the 1998 season before moving to Chiefs in 1999.

Former Flying Fijians lock Api Naevo reconnected with his former Super Rugby club Blues as they celebrated their 30th year history in Auckland, New Zealand, last weekend.

The event also honoured the club’s legendary players of former All Blacks captain Sean Fitzpatrick, Zinzan Brooke and Carlos Spencer who were inducted into their Hall of Fame.

Naevo thanked the Blues Rugby Club, Gary Millington and the Pukekohe Rugby Club for remembering their former players.

“Thank you for remembering your alumni,” he said.

“Super proud to be part of the inaugural induction of the three into the Blues Hall of Fame.”

“The recognition was established this year as part of the Blues’ 30th anniversary celebrations.”

Naevo played for the Blues in the 1998 season before moving to Chiefs in 1999.

Players with Fijian heritage who had represented Blues includes the like of Waisake Sotutu, Joeli Veitayaki, Joeli Vidiri, Naevo, Vula Maimuri, Rupeni Caucaunibuca, Iliesa Tanivula, Isa Nacewa, Joe Rokocoko, Emoni Narawa, Hoskins Sotutu, Soane Vikena and the list goes on.
