Whiteside wins Best Hat at Melbourne Cup Fashion Show

Local designer Jadeine Whiteside took the Best Hat Award at the Fiji Fashion Week Melbourne Cup celebration held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva yesterday.

Ms Whiteside showcased her newest collection, under Ta Novo, saying her winning hat is inspired by her latest designs, featuring earthy tones and traditional Fijian motifs.

"The inspiration behind my hat came from my newest collection, Ta Novo," she said 

"It incorporates a lot of brown, blacks and Fijian motifs which reflects what I am wearing".

She described participating in the event both exciting and inspiring, highlighting how it brought together creativity and culture through fashion.

The Melbourne Cup celebration featured live race viewing, entertainment, and a showcase of local fashion talent in the lead up to next year's Fiji Fashion Week events.

She added that the annual Melbourne cup event is always a highlight, not just the fashion but also for the festive atmosphere.

"The betting is always fun, and it is always part of the celebration," she said.
