Owners of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)-powered vehicles in Savusavu no longer have to queue at the Fiji Gas depot to refill their vehicles following the opening of a new LPG service station.

The facility opened at Marimuttu Service Station on Savusavu's main street last Friday.

Marimuttu and Sons Pte Limited director Nikhil Pillay said the new facility would provide a much-needed service for about 80 to 90 LPG-powered vehicles, including taxis and private vehicles operating in Savusavu.

"The station will operate daily from 6am to 10pm, giving customers convenient access to LPG throughout the day," Mr Pillay said.

"Previously, LPG refilling was only available at the Fiji Gas Depot in Savusavu, operating from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, with a lunch closure from 1pm to 2pm, and limited hours on weekends and public holidays from 8am to 10am."

Mr Pillay said the extended operating hours at Marimuttu Service Station would greatly improve convenience and reliability for LPG vehicle owners.

"This project represents an investment of approximately $90,000 by our family-owned business," he said.

"We are delighted to give back the much-needed service our town and people deserve in Cakaudrove province as a whole."

The facility was officially opened by the Assistant Minister for Commerce and Business Development, Sachida Nand.
