Children at Dilkusha Home were overjoyed when Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s security detail visited them on Christmas Day with a special surprise.
Superintendent Luse Rarawa Bogi said the visit came during the home’s Christmas lunch when the Prime Minister’s Office arrived with ice cream and personalised Christmas cards for all 20 children and 12 staff members.
“The children were very happy. They said, ‘thank you so much’,” Ms Bogi said yesterday.

“They quickly opened their gifts and read the message from the Prime Minister’s family in their Christmas cards.”
The 121-year-old home, established in 1904, operates under the Methodist Church in Fiji and provides care for children under state and social welfare child protection.
Ms Bogi expressed gratitude for the ongoing support the home received from organisations and families throughout the year.
“These children are so blessed. They are fortunate to receive such kindness,” she said.
“Not only church organisations but government organisations also support the home, helping with community work and everything the children need.”
The children celebrated Christmas with a traditional lovo prepared from donated items, including chicken and root crops.
Ms Bogi said the home cancelled all other bookings to ensure they could prepare a special lunch for the children.
In a Facebook post, Mr Rabuka said his security detail also visited children at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, St Christopher’s Home and Homes of Hope in Wailoku.
“In my Christmas message, I reminded us all to look out for one another and be instruments of peace and kindness,” he said.
The gesture reflected the Prime Minister’s call to remember the reason for the season while working together to build a better Fiji.
