A former postmaster has been convicted of stealing more than $17,000 from Post Fiji Limited and falsifying official documents while managing the Keiyasi Post Office in Sigatoka.
Paulo Ramasima was found guilty by the Sigatoka Magistrates Court of one count of theft and one count of falsification of documents in a prosecution brought by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
Appearing before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou earlier this week, the court found that between August 3, 2017, and June 30, 2018, Ramasima dishonestly took $17,972.55 in cash from Post Fiji Limited.

In a separate offence, the court found that on April 16, 2018, Ramasima falsified a Received Telegram Form and a payment voucher for $13,000.
Magistrate Savou ruled that the prosecution had proved both charges beyond reasonable doubt and convicted Ramasima on both counts.
Ramasima has not yet been sentenced.
The prosecution and defence have been directed to file their sentencing and mitigation submissions within the timeframe set by the court.
The matter has been adjourned to August 31, 2026, for a compliance check before sentencing.
