Do-or-die for Rewa: Coach

The Rewa football team must beat Lae City Dwellers FC tomorrow to accompany Galaxy FC to the OFC Champions League’s semi-final.

Galaxy FC topped Group B after they defeated Lae City Dwellers FC 3-1 from a William Dos Santos Medina hat-trick at Govind Park in Ba on Wednesday night.

“This is a do-or die game for us,” said Rewa player/coach Tevita Waranivalu.

“This is the most important game for us because it could be our last as well. We’ve got to regroup, refocus and set our mindset right.”

The veteran midfielder said they had worked hard to bounce back from their 1-4 loss to Galaxy FC last Sunday to beat Tupapa Maraerenga 4-2 (on Wednesday) to keep their chances alive.

Waranivalu has called on their fans in Nausori and Suva to travel down to Ba on Sunday to cheer them on.

Similar sentiment was echoed by Ramzan Khan who had scored Rewa’s first goal against Tupapa Maraerenga FC.

“We’ll take one game at a time,” was his reply when asked about their crucial group clash against Lae City Dwellers FC.

“We need to go through our recovery session well because it’ll enable us to come out fully prepared.”

Khan highlighted that everything they achieve together is all made possible by teamwork.

Lae City Dwellers FC captain Hayes said they had a young team and the pressure took its toll on their players.

“In the first half we were good but in the second we just dropped off from where we were. We also had several young players and by playing stronger teams they are able to gain experience and improve on their performance.”

Hayes highlighted they are ready to play and beat Rewa so they could qualify for the semi-final.
