Three face bail hearing over Valelevu property damage

Three men accused of trespassing and damaging a Valelevu property currently under a High Court restraining order are expected to appear at the Nasinu Magistrate Court today for a bail hearing.

Ifran Khan, Jitendra Kumar and Amish Nand are each charged with damaging property, possessing illicit drugs and possessing property suspected to be proceeds of crime.

It is alleged that on July 30, the three wilfully and unlawfully damaged property valued at $1076.72.

The property, which is under the control of the Fiji Police Force, is believed to be subject to a restraining order and linked to a well-known alleged drug lord.

The three are also accused of possessing 3.9 grams of methamphetamine and $3000 suspected to be proceeds of crime.

At their previous court appearance, their lawyer sought bail, but the Police Prosecution objected to the application.

The matter is listed for hearing today, with the defence expected to argue why the three should be granted bail.

All three remain in remand.
