Edirth credits faith and hard work in academic journey
The 18-year-old earns top awards in History and Business Administration.

For 18-year-old Edirth Savu, success did not come easy.
The young graduate said it was her faith in God, hard work, and the support of her family and teachers that helped her walk across the graduation stage at the Suva Grammar School Year 13 ceremony with her head held high and her heart full of gratitude.
Originally from Daliconi, Vanuabalavu in the Lau, with maternal ties to Nasaumatua, Daku in Tailevu, Edirth made her family proud by achieving the highest marks in History and Business Administration, earning top awards for both subjects.

She described the achievement as a blessing from God, celebrating her recognition as the top student in her Year 13 class.
“Firstly, I’d like to thank God Almighty for giving me the strength and courage to complete this final year with flying colours,” she said.
“I’d also like to thank my teachers, my parents for their financial and emotional support, and my classmates who helped me grow and made my senior year one of the best.”
Behind her cheerful personality lies a story of determination. Edirth shared that her academic journey wasn’t always smooth. There were moments of doubt, late nights of study, and personal challenges, but her faith kept her strong.
“I’ve faced some challenges through the years,” she said.
“But one thing I’ve learned is to always trust in God. He’s always there whenever you need Him. He will provide — you just have to call on Him, and He will guide you through everything.”
As she looks ahead, Edirth has already applied to the University of the South Pacific, hoping to pursue a degree in Politics and International Affairs.
Her dream is to continue studying History and Politics, subjects she has grown passionate about during her school years.
When asked what message she had for her parents, Edirth’s voice filled with emotion.
“Thank you, Mum and Dad, for guiding me and pushing me to my limits. Everything I’ve achieved today is because of your love, sacrifices, and constant encouragement,” she said.
“With hard work, faith, and the support of our family, anything is possible.”
