Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu, has urged the re-installation of 55 vacant traditional leadership roles in Macuata Province.
Speaking at the Macuata Provincial Council meeting in Sasa Village yesterday, Mr Vasu highlighted that while 88 per cent of traditional titles are filled, 12 per cent remain unoccupied.
He warned that these vacancies undermine leadership and hinder progress.

"It is crucial that we fill these vacant positions to ensure the continued development and unity of our tribes and districts," Mr Vasu said.
He called on local leaders to set an example by delivering the best service to their communities and stressed the importance of involving youth in land utilisation and resource management.
"We need to maximise our resources and turn them into opportunities for business and income generation for our families," he said, urging the province to make better use of available resources to create sustainable wealth.
Mr Vasu pointed to organisations such as Merchant Finance, Fijian Holdings, and the iTaukei Trust Fund as avenues to support such initiatives.
His remarks reflect a broader push for proactive leadership and resourcefulness to secure Macuata's prosperity through strong leadership and community involvement.
