Nadi-based VOU’s Fijian Flying Circus embarks on its historic inaugural international tour to the French Polynesia soon.

This marks a milestone for Fijian performing arts, following its debut last year as Fiji’s first circus.

The Fijian Flying Circus is set to captivate audiences in French Polynesia with a three-month tour under its travelling 600-seat big top.

“This is an incredible opportunity to showcase the vibrancy and artistry of Fiji on an international stage,” said Navitalai Waqavotuwale, VOU’s artistic director.

“We believe this tour will help pave the way for more employments for Fijian youths in performing arts, and we hope that Fijian entertainment can become a significant export industry, contributing to our economy and cultural tapestry.”

A cast of 32 members will travel to the French Polynesia, bringing the energy, passion, and Bula spirit of Fiji to a new audience.

VOU Dance founder Sachiko Soro said the tour was only made possible through funding from the ACP-EU culture fund, facilitated by the South Pacific Commission (SPC).

“As the Fijian Flying Circus takes flight beyond Fiji’s shores, this initiative underscores the potential of Fijian artists to compete in the global performing arts industry,” she said.

“VOU Fiji envisions a future where Fijian performances become a renowned cultural export, fostering economic growth and international recognition.”
