The head boy of a prominent school in Fiji has pleaded guilty to assaulting a student on school premises.

The juvenile appeared before the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, charged with one count of assault causing actual bodily harm.

It is alleged that the accused had interrogated the student over allegations of theft before using a bamboo stick to strike the victim.

A medical report confirmed the victim suffered bruises on his buttocks, legs, and slightly on his head.

The accused appeared in court and opted for representation from the Legal Aid Commission.

He was granted bail of $200, with his father approved as a surety.

He has been ordered not to reoffend or interfere with the State witness. His sentencing is scheduled for March 10.
