A $529,117.92 royalty payment was handed to landowners of Mining Lease 62, covering the period from December 2025 to March 2026.

Kelera Matalau of mataqali Nacokula, yavusa Rarawaqa, received the payment from the Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Filimoni Vosarogo during a ceremony at the Tanoa Skylodge Hotel in Nadi last Friday.

She said the payment represented more than money.

“This is another happy moment for our family,” Ms Matalau said.

“It allows us to invest in education, strengthen community infrastructure, support livelihoods, and secure a better future for generations to come.”

Mr Vosarogo said Government remained committed to responsible and sustainable resource development.

“We recognise that development must go hand-in-hand with respect for landowners rights, environmental stewardship, and the long-term well-being of communities,” he said.

Lion One Limited geologist Bill Reid said the company would continue to meet its obligations and maintain a collaborative relationship with landowners.

“It’s a very exciting project with strong potential for growth,” he said.
