Joint efforts are underway between the Fiji Police and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Naval Division to retrieve suspected drug parcels found near Ogea Island. The recovered items are currently being held by police at Lakeba.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the parcels had not been brought in to Suva yet.

“We are working with the Fiji navy to get the parcels,” Ms Naisoro said.

The 25 packages of suspected drugs were discovered by local divers near Ogea Island on June 6.

Several people are in custody assisting investigators.

Both agencies are also working to determine whether the packages came from a single offshore drop or multiple dumping points.

Investigations continue.
