Police step up security for Deans semi-finals

Police will increase their presence at the Vodafone Super Deans Rugby semi-finals, with officers deployed at the venue and on the roads to ensure the safety and security of supporters.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said officers would conduct patrols and checks at the game venue, while traffic officers would be deployed on surrounding roads.

“In any event such as this, there will always be Police Presence. Our Traffic Officers will be on the road and Police Officers conducting checks and patrolling the game venue,” Mr Tudravu said.

He said the Police presence was aimed at ensuring supporters could enjoy the games without incident.

“I am calling on all ex-scholars, parents, teachers and supporters who will be present tomorrow to assist in making this year’s deans final games enjoyable and safe for everyone,” he said.

Mr Tudravu also urged those travelling to the venue to leave early and avoid the last-minute rush.

He extended his well wishes to all secondary schools competing in this year’s semi-finals.
