RFNS Kikau will voyage its last patrol duty in the Northern Division before decommissioning this month with a new patrol boat to be added to the RFMF Naval Division’s vessels.

The RFNS Kikau conducted its surveillance for the last time in parts of Vanua Levu last Wednesday including Labasa for the RFMF Naval Division’s completion of its boarding operations this year.

RFNS Kikau Executive Officer, Leut Josaia Moceinasavu Buarua said operations conducted are to the highest standards.

“We operate at the best level of professionalism as possible,” he said.

Good surveillance and monitoring of our waters was paramount, Leut Buarua reiterated.

The Australian Government has had a collaborative relationship with the Fiji Navy through which she has aided Fiji with Pacific Patrol Boats and the new Guardian Class Patrol Boat for various operations ranging surveillance, search and rescue to enforcement at sea.

Operations results in arrest

Meanwhile, as a result of its operations in the North, a man was apprehended following a water speed chase, in partnership with the Fiji Police Force.

The man was allegedly involved in the drug trade.
