Hardware company backs golf for the 56th year

Sigatoka businessman and golfer Nitulesh Mali is among the leading contenders for this weekend’s 56th R.C. Manubhai Ba Golf Open at the Ba Golf Club.
The two-day annual tournament brings golfers together to test their skills on the Ba course and has been part of the local golfing calendar for 56 years.
“It’s longevity reflects the commitment of the Ba Golf Club, participating golfers, sponsors and supporters who have contributed to the tournament over the years,” he said.

Mali, who had back-to-back podium finishes at Denarau Golf, said he was looking forward to competing in Ba.
R.C. Manubhai continues its association with the tournament as part of the company’s wider support for community initiatives in Fiji.
R.C. Manubhai Group chief executive officer Uppiliappan Gopalan said reaching the 56th year was an achievement worth recognising.

Rai wins Samoa Open
Meanwhile, Fiji golfer Rajat Rai won the amateur division at the Samoa Open 2026 last weekend.
Rai said his victory at Faleata Golf Course was unreal.
He carded rounds of 68 (-4), 67 (-5) and 72 (even).
“I’m grateful to have secured the win against a talented field of professionals and amateurs.
“It was a great experience and one I’ll take a lot from moving forward,” he said.
“I’m feeling extremely grateful for the week, thanks to my parents for their continuous support.
“A shout out to Golf Fiji for always believing in me.
“I am proud to leave with another win before my college journey begins in the US.
“This experience has given me more than wins, and I’ll carry that with me wherever I go.”
