Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts Charan Jeath Singh will contest Fiji’s next general election under the People’s Alliance (PA) party banner.

Mr Singh confirmed this during his visit to the Northern Division last week.

“Of course, and I am confident that I am going to win,” Mr Singh said.

He joined the party in March 2022 after leaving the National Federation Party (NFP) and has been associated with the party for more than four years.

Mr Singh said he had applied for a PA election ticket after being approached by the party about his political future.

“The PA office contacted me to ask whether I would be interested in remaining with the party and contesting under its banner,” he said.

“So I applied with PA and once my interest is endorsed, I will contest the election again.”

Mr Singh’s confirmation comes amid criticism directed at him over issues affecting the sugar industry.

Despite the criticism, Mr Singh said he remained optimistic about his political future and his chances in the upcoming election.
