The Raiwaqa White rugby team utilised their crucial game time by playing in the Suva Rugby 10s tournament at Buckhurst Park, last Saturday.

This is for the preparation for the 2026 Escott Shield competition.

Raiwaqa White had a good start beating Nabua Two 14–10 in their pool opener.

Raiwaqa White head coach Aminiasi Nabolarua said his player’s commitment in training resulted in their win.

“It’s a blowout session for the boys and I’m coaching a new breed of Raiwaqa boys,” he said.

“We mostly focused on weight training for the past seven weeks.”

Nabolarua added that he was able to gauge his player’s performance during the tournament.

“It’s the observation period for these players. It was never about the win as the players enjoyed themselves on the fi eld.”

Nabolarua said a few of his players failed to turn up to the tournament due to work commitments.

“I’m grateful to the players for showing up and getting the win. This is a new team and we are moulding them to be disciplined with an added fl air.”

Meanwhile, the RKSOB (Ratu Kadavulevu School Old Boys) team thumped Fire 33 –10 to claim the Suva 10s tournament.
