Nausori 7s back after 15 years

The Nausori Rugby Club (NRC) officially launched their 7s tournament at Suva’s Tanoa Plaza yesterday.
Speaking to SUNsports, NRC general secretary Sirilo Ramenatave said they are reviving their 7s tournament after a 15-year lapse.
“The revival reminds us that we have to reconnect our proud legacy while at the same time laying the foundation for our next generation of players,” he said.
The tournament will be from March 20-21 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

Ramenatave said the tournament provides a pathway for their young talents to showcase their abilities and build their own character and strength.
He acknowledged Tara’s Supermarket for the sponsorship.
Ramenatave added that their partnership showed how local businesses and the community could work hand-in-hand to build something meaningful and lasting.
“To all our other sponsors, we extend our heartfelt appreciation, your belief in grassroots rugby and your commitment to the community of Nausori have made this possible,” he said.
Tara’s Supermarket managing director Amish Patel said growth, professionalism and community support have been witnessed during the offi cial launch.

He said they were honoured to have the event known as the Tara’s Supermarket Nausori 7s tournament.
“Rugby is deeply rooted in our communities.
“It teaches us discipline, teamwork, resilience, and leadership, values that align closely with what Tara’s Supermarket stands for,” he said.
Patel indicated that they believe in supporting young talents since it would bring the communities together and create opportunities for everyone.
He encouraged all participating teams to do their best in this year’s tournament.

Patel added that they are now looking forward to the tournament and will be a successful one.
