Couple Clear Hurdles To Graduate Together

Graduating as a couple after facing many challenges to­gether will be a day to re­member for Joseph Florian Bure and wife Wati Suziko Theresa Bure.

“We have been looking forward to this day. It is exciting for our families and friends who have been there with us since day one,” Mrs Bure said.

Joseph Bure, 24, graduated with a Bachelor of Law and is currently employed at Lowing and Associates while Wati Bure, 23, graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Account­ing and Finance) and works at Pa­cific Design and Build as an assis­tant accountant.

The young couple met in 2015 when they first began their study journey at the Fiji National Univer­sity.

A year later, they got married be­cause they were expecting their little princess, Katie Anne Sayuri Bure who is now three years old.

“We have had a lot of challenges where some suggested for us to stay home and look after baby, said Mr Bure, who hails from Tavia, Ovalau.

“But it was our families, who kept pushing us to finish school despite what other people were saying.”

The couple continued studying backed with the love and support of their families.

They created a balanced routine with their studies and babysitting.

“Our daughter is our pillar of strength,” Mrs Bure said.

“When she was born, we looked at her every day knowing that all the sacrifices and sleepless nights was for her and our families because we had our future in mind,”

With Japanese paternal links and maternal links to Dravuni, Tailevu, Ms Wati said, “marriage is about teamwork so for two years we had a routine.

“He goes for day classes while I ba­bysit and when I go for night classes he takes over.

“If you want it then never give up. Always put God first, family then education and everything else will fall into place.”
