The University of Fiji (UniFiji) drew a large crowd of prospective students, parents, and members of the public at its 2025 Open Day today at the Saweni campus in Lautoka and Samabula campus in Suva.

The event gave future students the opportunity to explore academic programmes, interact with lecturers, and access information about financial support through the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) booth.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Shaista Shameem said the Open Day was vital in helping students make informed choices about higher education.

“It gave students and their families the chance to understand the study options available and experience the unique learning environment we offer,” Ms Shameem said.

Visitors also enjoyed campus tours, student-led information booths, and a vibrant market day featuring food, entertainment, and fundraising activities. Funds raised went towards assisting students with tuition fees.

President of the University of Fiji Student Association (UFSA), Rodney Vakaloloma, said the event highlighted the university’s supportive learning environment.

“Lecturers know students by name, no one is left behind here,” he said, adding that UFSA members guided visitors and ensured a welcoming experience.

The open day further showcased UniFiji’s student life, with displays from clubs and societies, and the announcement of a new cadet programme to be launched next year.
