The school prefects of Suva Sangam College in Suva had their prefects’ induction ceremony yesterday.
Pita Qiolevu was named head boy and Sera Camaitoga as the head girl of the school. The school heads said that leadership was not new to them as they have had experience in their primary and secondary years.
“The role of head boy, to me is not an easy task. The responsibility of leading over 500 students is going to be a challenge. But I am honoured and privileged to be given this opportunity to lead,” said Qiolevu.

The Year 13 student said that the role was not a new thing to him as he was a school prefect in his previous primary and secondary years and last year he was appointed as the school deputy head boy.
He aims for a Toppers’ scholarship and wants to pursue a degree in civil engineering.
Head girl Ms Camaitoga said, “Even though it came to me as a surprise, I have experienced leadership roles since I was in primary school.
I hope to lead by example and to take care of the responsibility that has been given to me,” she said.
She said after Year 13, she wanted to learn more about being a caregiver because she is more interested in helping people especially the elderly citizens.
There were 36 senior prefects, 36 form captains, 18 library monitors, 6 computer monitors, 4 deputies and 2 school heads that were inducted at Suva Sangam College.
