The Aspen Medical Foundation, the charitable arm of Aspen Medical, has expanded its scholarship programme to include both the Master of General Nursing and the Master of Emergency Nursing, supporting healthcare development at Ba and Lautoka Hospitals.

The initiative also aims to empower nurses pursuing postgraduate qualifications, with five scholarships set to be awarded in 2026, beginning with studies at the University of Fiji.

This expansion builds on the success of the 2025 programme, which awarded four scholarships totaling AUD $50,000, addressing the growing demand for advanced nursing expertise in the region.

Aspen Medical Foundation Chair Sian Keys said the scholarships represent a long-term investment in Fiji’s health system.
“We are proud to announce the 2026 Fiji Scholarships, which mark an important expansion of the Aspen Medical Foundation’s commitment to building local health capacity,” she said.
“By supporting nurses to achieve these advanced qualifications, we are not only investing in individual careers but also strengthening Fiji’s entire healthcare system, ensuring that patients benefit from highly skilled professionals for years to come.”

The programme recognises the vital contributions of nurses and the critical need for specialist skills in emergency, intensive care unit (ICU), and perioperative nursing.

It aims to remove financial barriers and support professional development while nurses continue their essential work in Fiji’s healthcare system.
