Health upgrades planned for Tukavesi health centre

Health services at Tukavesi Health Centre are set for improvement following concerns over equipment shortages raised during a recent ministerial visit in Cakaudrove
Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, Penioni Ravunawa, has acknowledged the shortage of medical equipment at Tukavesi health centre and confirmed that the facility will undergo major infrastructure upgrades.
“The visit allowed me to engage directly with frontline workers and better understand the operational difficulties affecting service delivery,” Mr Ravunawa said.

During the visit, he identified several areas where additional medical equipment is urgently needed.
Mr Ravunawa said he has already contacted the medical coordinator and provided assurances that efforts will be made to accommodate the centre’s immediate needs.
He further described the visit as an important opportunity to gain insight into challenges relating to infrastructure, service delivery and the daily operations of the health centre.
"These firsthand observations will help strengthen our planning and ensure resources are directed to areas where they are needed most,” he said
Tukavesi health centre plays a critical role in providing healthcare services to surrounding rural and maritime communities, where access to medical facilities can be limited.
