The upgrade included an expanded General Outpatient Department waiting area, a larger emergency observation unit and the complete renovation of the Maternal and Child Health Clinic to provide a safer and more modern environment for mothers and newborns.
The project also introduced full solarisation across the facility, allowing the health centre to continue operating efficiently.
The renovation was funded by the Government of Korea and facilitated by the World Health Organisation.
Speaking during the commissioning, Dr Lalabalavu thanked the donors for their support.
“Your support goes far beyond basic infrastructure; it is a direct investment in the health, well-being, and future of every single Fijian who walks through these doors.
“Government vision and local dedication are essential, but collaboration with global partners accelerates our progress exponentially.”
The upgraded facility is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery in the Tailevu area while providing a more comfortable and reliable environment for patients and healthcare workers.
