Fiji Sun Newsroom duo earn media degrees
Graduates dedicate achievements to family, mentors and loved ones.

From covering stories in the newsroom to celebrating a milestone of their own, two Fiji Sun staff members graduated today from Fiji National University with Bachelor of Media and Communication degrees.
Sports intern journalist Tevita Wesele and sub-editing desk staff member Salanieta Guniyaga were among students who walked across the stage during the graduation ceremony.
For Mr Wesele, the journey came with challenges, particularly balancing work, study and personal commitments.

“One of the biggest challenges for me was time management, trying to balance work, studies, and personal life all at once,” he said.
Despite the difficulties, he said support from family, lecturers and friends helped him complete his studies.
“I dedicate this achievement to my mum and elder brothers, as well as my lecturers and friends who supported me throughout this journey,” he said.
Mr Wesele encouraged students pursuing media and communication studies to stay focused and committed.
“You have to have the courage, determination and commitment to achieve this degree,” he said.
Ms Guniyaga described the graduation as an emotional and meaningful milestone for her and her family.
She dedicated her achievement to her late grandmother, who passed away a few months ago.
“I dedicate this degree to my late grandma, my mum, my family and friends for always believing in me and supporting me,” she said.
Ms Guniyaga also encouraged students facing challenges in their studies to persevere.
“My advice is don’t give up,” she said.
