Miss Nasinu 2025, Ailava Samuels, 19, is determined to use her platform to combat cyberbullying and raise awareness about its growing impact against young people.

Ms Samuels, who represented Valelevu during the pageant on Saturday at the Nasinu Grounds, said her mission was wearing the Nasinu Festival crown.

“Winning this title is not just about beauty, it’s about having a voice,” she said.

“I want to use mine to speak up against cyberbullying and to encourage kindness and respect online.”

She is from Simu, Samoa, with maternal links to Vaturova, Cakaudrove.

She said her experiences and community values inspired her to focus on issues affecting today’s youths.

“Social media can be a powerful tool, but it’s also where a lot of hurtful things happen. If we can educate young people about responsible online behaviour, we can make the internet a safer space for everyone.”

Ms Samuels hopes to work closely with schools and youth groups in Nasinu to lead campaigns and workshops promoting digital responsibility during her reign.

“This title gives me a chance to give back to my community. If I can make even one person think twice before posting something hurtful, then I’ve made a difference.”

The Miss Nasinu Pageant Committee commended Ms Samuels for her strong advocacy focus, describing her as a role model for young women in Fiji.
