Five young women are being encouraged to become future leaders and advocates through this year's Vodafone Gold N Water Carnival, with Vodafone saying the event is about much more than competition.

The week-long carnival, being held at Garvey Park in Tavua, provides contestants with a platform to build confidence, develop leadership skills and speak out on issues affecting their communities.

Vodafone Business Relationship Manager Ranjita Singh said the company was proud to support the contestants and provide opportunities for young women to grow.

Speaking on behalf of Vodafone chief executive officer Elenoa Biukoto, Ms Singh described the carnival as an opportunity for contestants to advocate for meaningful causes while developing confidence and leadership skills.

The carnival, officiated by Minister for Housing and Local Government Maciu Nalumisa, is themed "Celebrating Unity. Embracing Diversity. Building a Resilient Fiji."

Ms Singh said the event reflected the strong sense of unity and belonging within the Tavua community and commended residents and the 2026 Carnival Committee for organising the celebration.

She thanked the community for its continued support and highlighted Vodafone's commitment to creating opportunities for young women to become future leaders.

Ms Singh said the carnival's theme aligned with Vodafone's commitment to connecting communities across Fiji, noting that for more than 30 years the company had worked to ensure people in both urban and rural areas remained connected.

According to Ms Singh, reliable connectivity strengthens communities, supports resilience during difficult times and contributes to grassroots development.

She encouraged the contestants to embrace the experience as a chance to grow in confidence, grace and leadership while inspiring others through their advocacy.

Ms Singh also said the carnival celebrates Fiji's diversity and shared aspirations, bringing communities together in support of a stronger and more connected future.
