The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has rolled out a $15.4 million digital overhaul aimed at cutting long queues, reducing waiting times and shifting key transport services online.

The launch of the revamped Noda LTA e-services platform and website, held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva, marks one of Government’s biggest digital investments in public service delivery.

Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services Ro Filipe Tuisawau said the initiative was designed to ease pressure on LTA branches and give customers greater control over how they access services.

“This is a significant investment by Government,” Mr Tuisawau said.

“It reflects the importance of LTA as a regulatory authority and our commitment to modernising how services are delivered.”

Under the new system, customers can now complete services such as traffic infringement notices, licence renewals and payments online, reducing the need for physical visits to LTA offices.

Mr Tuisawau said long waiting times and unnecessary travel had been a major frustration for the public.

“This platform will minimise queues, reduce time away from work and allow people to access services from their homes or workplaces,” he said.

Electronic payments can be made through approved banks and mobile payment platforms, with more options expected to be added in future phases.

LTA chief executive officer Irimaia Rokosawa said the digital transformation journey began four years ago and focused first on fixing internal systems and processes.

“This launch is not the beginning, but the result of years of work,” Mr Rokosawa said.

“We had to get our foundations right before introducing technology.”

Release One of the Noda LTA platform includes customer management, traffic infringement services and online payments, with future releases expected to expand to vehicle registration renewals, inspections, permits and other services.

Mr Rokosawa acknowledged LTA staff, consultants and stakeholders for their commitment throughout the project.

“This was never about one person,” he said. “It was about teamwork and improving service delivery for the people of Fiji.”

Government expects the digital shift to significantly reduce congestion at LTA branches as more customers move online in the coming years.
