China continues to take the lead in promoting global interest in showcasing services and trade.

For the past 11 years, China has been hosting the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) which includes invited countries around the world.

The 12th edition of the CIFTIS was held from September 12 to 16 at the China National Convention Center and Shougang Park in Beijing.

Since it started in 2012, CIFTIS has become one of the biggest fairs for services in the world, and this year was no different.

Eighty-five (85) countries were part of this year’s fair and it was nice to see so many embassies. Sadly, I did not see the Fiji. It would have been great to see Fiji take part in such an important event to not only trade and open new doors of opportunities but also share its unique culture and tradition.

Ninety journalists from eighty-three countries, including three representatives from the Pacific Islands, were in Beijing for the second half of the China International Press Communication Centre programme.

They also attended CIFTIS 2024 and had the chance to witness and report on it. Their presence was equally important because it gave them the opportunity to share their stories and experiences from the fair with people around the world.

As we walked around the different booths, I loved the lively atmosphere and the many interesting displays. There were new technologies and cultural exhibits, so there was something for everyone: shoes, clothes, different design bags, toys, souvenirs, and many more. The venue was so crowded that it was difficult to walk around. I couldn’t help but buy a few items to remember this visit.
