Outsource Fiji has a new president with an ambitious plan – 15,000 jobs and $465 million in national outsourcing revenue by 2030.

Chartered accountant and business consultant Chandan Ohri was formally announced as the new president of Outsource Fiji on Friday at the organisation's Garden City office in Raiwai, Suva.

Outsource Fiji is the industry body that represents and promotes Fiji's outsourcing sector – companies that provide services such as customer support, finance, and data processing to overseas clients, mostly in Australia and New Zealand.

The sector currently employs more than 9,500 Fijians.

Mr Ohri said the targets were not just numbers.

"That is 15,000 livelihoods, 15,000 families supported, and 15,000 stories of opportunity created here in Fiji," he said.

He said revenues of $465 million would prove Fiji could compete in higher-value services globally.

Mr Ohri also said Outsource Fiji planned to work with the Reserve Bank of Fiji and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service to formally measure the sector's contribution to Fiji's gross domestic product.

"When we say we are contributing to the economy, we will be able to prove it, measure it, and grow it with intention," he said.

Mr Ohri brings more than 30 years of experience in finance, digital transformation, and business consulting.

He has held senior roles at IBM, KPMG, and BDO New Zealand, and founded Duco Consultancy.

Outsource Fiji executive director Josefa Wivou said the sector was moving beyond traditional outsourcing into artificial intelligence and specialised services.

"Instead of seeing this as a threat, we see it as an opportunity," Mr Wivou said.
