Caroline Pickering will take up her new job as director Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), on January 1.

Her appointment was based on the recommendation of the National Anti-Money Laundering Council.

She is manager policy and compliance with Fiji FIU, and replaces Razim Buksh, who retired in 2023.

Governor Arif Ali said Ms Pickering was the best person to lead FIU into its next growth stage.

Ms Pickering has over 25 years of professional experience and expertise, and strategic leadership capabilities to drive the unit to deliver results in Fiji’s increasingly digital financial landscape, he said.

Ms Pickering joined FIU in 2006 as manager policy and compliance, and was instrumental in developing Fiji’s regulatory and supervisory framework to combat money laundering and financial crime.
