Australian PM Acknowledges Bainimarama

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has reached out to Voreqe Bainimarama, acknowledging him for his service while he was Fiji’s PM.

In a letter sent to the current Leader of Opposition, dated January 17, Mr Albanese thanked him for his substantial contribution to the relationship between Fiji and Australia.

He said he hoped to have the opportunity to meet Mr Bainimarama again soon to discuss ways to strengthen the Vuvale Partnership.

“You have led Fiji through a challenging period as it restored democracy, recovered from successive cyclones and managed the impacts of COVID-19,” Mr Albanese said.
