The Vanuakula Youth Club rugby team is calling for government assistance to continue its mission of steering young people away from drugs and crime through rugby development and community engagement.

Formed to provide a positive pathway for youths facing social challenges, the team has grown into a symbol of hope in the community.

Club president Leone Turaganimalei said the group urgently needs support with jerseys and training equipment to help young players pursue their rugby dreams.

He said many talented youths have the potential to succeed in rugby if given the right opportunities and support.

“Investing in sports can help reduce drug-related problems among young people while encouraging discipline, teamwork and leadership,” he said.

What began as a small group of passionate players has grown into a strong youth movement supported by parents, coaches and community leaders.

Training sessions now serve as more than rugby practice, providing a safe space where young people learn responsibility, respect and personal development.

Community member Manoa Petero said the initiative is already making a positive impact by keeping youths active and focused on constructive goals.

The club hopes government assistance will strengthen its programmes and allow more young people to participate in organised sport.

The Vanuakula Youth Rugby Team continues to inspire young people to believe in themselves, make better choices and work toward a brighter future on and off the field.
