TISA Insurance (Fiji) Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to community sport with the official handover of playing jerseys to the Dreketi Rugby Club.
Speaking at a media conference held at the TISA Insurance boardroom in Suva today, chief executive officer David Ariff Chan said the partnership reflected the company’s belief in the values rugby promotes, including unity, discipline and resilience.
Mr Chan acknowledged the Dreketi Rugby Club president, committee members, team management and players, commending their commitment to building a strong and sustainable club.

“Running a club takes real commitment, and what you are building here in Dreketi is something meaningful and lasting,” Mr Chan said.
He highlighted the importance of leadership within the team, singling out the captain and vice-captain for setting standards on and off the field.
“Leadership on the field is critical. You set the tone, you carry the responsibility, and you represent the standards of this team,” he said.
Mr Chan described the jersey handover as more than a symbolic gesture, saying the playing strip represented the pride, discipline and responsibility players carry when representing their club and community.
“This jersey is more than just a playing top. It represents your team, your community, and everything you stand for when you step onto the field,” he said.
"What I see in Dreketi Rugby Club is something very special — unity, pride, and a strong sense of purpose. And that is what makes this partnership meaningful."
It’s not just about having our logo on the jersey. It’s about supporting a club that reflects the very best of what community sport represents in Fiji. It’s about investing in people, in discipline, and in the next generation.
He said rugby played a vital role in Fiji’s social fabric, bringing people together and nurturing life skills beyond sport.
“In Fiji, rugby is more than a game. It builds character, teaches teamwork and respect, and clubs like Dreketi are where those values truly come to life,” Mr Chan said.
Mr Chan said TISA Insurance took pride in supporting grassroots sports as part of its commitment to being a “community’s insurer”.
“For us, that means showing up, supporting, and standing alongside the communities we serve,” he said.
Addressing the players, Mr Chan encouraged them to wear the jersey with pride and to support one another throughout the season, particularly during challenging moments.
“Talent may get you onto the field, but it is discipline, heart and belief that will carry you forward,” he said.
He urged the team to play not just for results, but for their captain, teammates and community.
"Play for the man next to you. Play for your captain. Play for your community. And every time you step onto that field, remember — you are not just playing a game. You are building something that others will look up to.
We are proud to stand with you," Mr Chan said.
On behalf of TISA Insurance, Mr Chan thanked the club for the opportunity to support its journey and expressed confidence in a strong season ahead for Dreketi Rugby Club.
