The Fiji National University plans to mentor up to 100,000 skilled people in technical, vocational education and training by 2027.

Acknowledging the skills gap experienced in Fiji, TVET Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr Isimeli Tagicakiverata said they need the right kind of policies, government framework and funding support to achieve this.

“If everything is in place, everything is aligned then we should be able to reach our goal,” Dr Tagicakiverata said.

“Even this year we had set a goal for ourselves and we’re already 60 per cent in and it’s just the third month from January to March. With that projection we are confident that if everything is aligned we should be able to achieve our target by 2027.”
