The global bird flu crisis has not affected egg production or pric­es in the country, says the Min­istry of Agriculture.

The global bird flu crisis has not affected egg production or pric­es in the country, says the Min­istry of Agriculture.

However, the rising cost of raw mate­rials, particularly chicken feed, has led to an increase in retail prices.

Fiji imports around 80 per cent of its raw materials in the poultry sector, in­cluding feed for chickens.

The ministry has confirmed that no cases of avian flu have been reported in the country, after checking with Bi­osecurity and Australia and New Zea­land.
