15-Year-Old On Drug Charge Granted Bail

A 15-year-old juvenile facing an alleged drug offence has been granted bail by the Magistrates Court in Nasinu.
The juvenile appeared before Magistrate Sufia Humza last Friday.
He is charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

It is alleged that on August 12, 2019, at Nakasi Road in Nakasi, without lawful authority, the juvenile was in possession of 1.5 grams of Indian hemp, commonly known as marijuana, an illicit drug.
Police prosecutor Constable Setareki Mocevakaca had served the accused with the full phase of disclosures.
He did not object to the bail. However, he requested the court if the parents of the juvenile could be the sureties.
The juvenile was granted bail on the surety bond of $500. He was ordered not to re-offend and not to interfere with any prosecution witnesses.
A curfew was imposed on the juvenile from 6 pm to 6 am.
The matter was adjourned for a plea to October 8.
