$9 and wristwatch robbery case sent back to Magistrates Court
The Top Shop robberies case involving the alleged theft of $9 and a wristwatch from a 60-year-old man has been transferred back to the Magistrates Court for plea and bail proceedings.

A case involving the alleged robbery of $9 in cash and a wristwatch from a 60-year-old man outside Top Shop in Raiwaqa has been transferred back to the Magistrates Court for plea and bail proceedings.
The accused, Lagani Rabukawa, and Saimoni Macedru, are alleged to have acted with another man in assaulting the victim while he was waiting for a bus on December 13, 2025.
The court heard the group allegedly attacked the man before stealing $9 in cash and a wristwatch.

The matter was called before the High Court in Suva on Friday, where Justice Daniel Goundar ordered that the case be returned to the Magistrates Court.
Justice Goundar ruled that the case should be called before Magistrate Hettiwattage Somaratne for the accused to take their pleas and for their bail applications to be heard.
Both accused remain in remand custody.
The matter has been adjourned to January 26, 2026, for mention in the Magistrates Court.
No pleas were taken during the High Court appearance.
