A 20-year-old man, who allegedly stole chicken and eggs from a supermarket, was produced in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

Manoa Niumarawa appeared before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili charged with two counts of theft and giving false information to a public servant.

It is alleged that on April 12, he stole three number 16 Rooster chickens and one dozen Ram Sami eggs from the Charan Jeath Supermarket in Nabua.

After his arrest, he lied about his address to the Police.

Niumarawa opted to be represented by the Legal Aid and his plea was deferred to May 14.

Police Prosecutor Constable Mere Mataki did not object to his bail, however, requested if strict bail conditions could be given.

The accused was released on $500 bail bond and ordered to report to the Nabua Police Station every Wednesday between 8 pm to 6 am.

The court also imposed a curfew from 6 pm to 5 am daily.
