Alleged Chocolate Thief Scared Of Virus: Magistrate Hears

A Nabua man, who was produced in Court yesterday for absconding bail, told Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili that he did not attend his case because he was scared of COVID-19.
Sikeli Tavua, 32, said he had heard that 80 per cent of passengers on one of the international flights to Fiji were from Suva and that he was scared to attend Court because of the virus.
He resides along Sukanaivalu Road in Nabua.

Tavua is charged with theft in his substantive file where he is alleged to have stolen three Cadbury chocolates worth $26.85 from Shop N Save in Nabua on February 6 this year.
He was released on $500 bail bond and ordered to report to the Nabua Police Station every Saturday.
The case was adjourned to May 14
